Jerry Schlichter and his St. Louis law firm, Schlichter Bogard & Denton, have had an extraordinary impact on corporate retirement plans and practices nationally.

In a case against Cigna, Schlichter negotiated a $35 million settlement, "to my knowledge, the largest recovery ever obtained in such a suit," said Thomas Theado of the Gary, Naegele & Theado law firm in Lorain, Ohio.

"It can be fairly said that the firm's work has literally moved the entire investment marketplace," Jay Sushelsky, a lawyer representing the AARP Foundation, said in a federal court declaration.

Read what Schlichter says, in his own words, on my Banking & Finance page today in the Business Journal.
