Schlichter Bogard & Denton Lawsuits Cited in Wall Street Journal Article Regarding Passive Investing

The Wall Street Journal this week cited lawsuits brought by Schlichter Bogard & Denton in a front-page article on the rise of passive investing.

In examining the recent trend away from active stock-picking and toward passive investment options, such as index funds, the Journal noted Schlichter Bogard & Denton’s cases on behalf of retirement plan investors and suggested that the firm’s lawsuits “are motivating investors to make changes.” The Journal quoted Schlichter Bogard & Denton managing partner Jerry Schlichter, who stated that plan managers face “a pretty big burden of proof” in selecting actively managed funds, given their cost and track record.
